Only in the Military

It would seem the first job for Jared when he returns is to fill out our Command Sponsorship request. Again. I would think that since we are already OCONUS and pcs'ing to another OCONUS station, it would be a given. I would be incorrect. It seems the hoops do not change from one assignment to another.

How upsetting it would be to have command sponsorship denied? I am not fond of the prospect of living two years without my husband. All would not be lost I think. The cost of living there is better than it was at Pensacola. Moving there on our own would mean no household shipments so we would require purchasing furniture and household supplies. It would not be cheap but it would be doable.

Preparation for bringing Yuki with us must begin now if we are to bring her. Fortunately, cats are easier than dogs to ship to Spain. I need only update her vaccines and her health certificate. Scheduling now is best because the vet's office here is slow to grant appointments.

I have a few weeks of easy, leisurely planning before it gets hectic. Now is the time to begin getting my binder set up. I am sensing this is going to be a whirlwind pcs. I have been told I get Jared for an entire month before we leave so that he can be relieved and outprocess the base. I have even been contacted by Jared's relief's wife already. It seems I am not the only one that dislikes last minute plans.

The funny thing is, I am getting wound up and we have not received official orders yet, only a notice of assignment. I, of all people, should know better. The Navy has a bad habit of changing plans and as volatile as the world is right now, anything could happen to change the Navy's needs and by extension, my plans.

I think knowing an assignment so soon is not something merciful... to me at the least. Build my PCS binder and stick to it... until the Navy makes changes... or not.
