The first change is the ship is to be no more. Actually, the ship is to be decommisioned in 2024. At least, that is the announcement of what the Navy desires. Congress has challenged the retirement. If Jared was not changing ships later this year, this would be a big thing for him. He would be a part of the last crew and would sail it to CONUS to turn over the ship for decommisioning. That means they could leave Japan months early while Chao lei, June, and I remain to pack and process out of USFJ authority. But since he is leaving, it is a thirty-year-old ship. Let it go.
I will remain a teacher next year but not for the university. Beginning with the 22-23 school year, I will be the new teacher of AP Calculus, AP Computer Science, and AP Statistics at the DODEA High School on base. Now, whether I will teach all at once is to be determined by student registration. If I do not, then I will be assigned other math classes, presumably for the Junior/Senior classes. I suppose this means I must learn all those things of a school, such as the mascot, school colors, and learn the school manual, as well as other things I am sure to discover.
I look forward to this opportunity. It means I will get students earlier in their academic life and will be able to instill a firm foundation to their university careers. I found many students at university woefully unprepared. Some were so due to their own efforts (or lack thereof), but many did not receive adequate preparation before arriving. University is not where foundations are built but where the building upon it is done.
Childcare will be easy! There is a center at the school. I did not know this before but that is probably because it is only for people connected to the school. I will still be required to take Chao lei to his school, but it is on my way, and they have early drop off for teachers.
I only need to remind myself that these will be children, not fully grown adults. What warnings of teaching in a high school are there? lol
