My Coastie has been soothed. At the least for a short while. His reluctance to return home at night was a sure sign of it. I am confident he would have stayed all night if I allowed him to do so.
We enjoyed our typical activities; walking the beach and shopping the stores.
While visiting a small marina, a very energetic young boy ran along the docks. The docks were narrow at this place. He did not think it necessary to slow his departure as he passed us. He rushed past my Coastie with no more than a brush of his coat. Passing me seemed more difficult.
I am not large yet the boy seemed to find difficulty to pass me cleanly though he did accomplish his passing with only a stumble. I did not fare as well. Since I had moved far to the side of the dock, I had no more place to put my foot. After a small collision, I fell into the water.
The water being shallow I could stand with my head above water, but only just. My
Coastie did not garner any affections since he only stood and laughed. The boy fared
better since he could not cease from apologizing and had a serious look to his face. Both assisted me to climb the ladder. The young boy continued his apologies. My Coastie continued his laughter.
I pushed him into the water. He was correct. It was funny to see someone fall into the water.

A week gone by
This week has passed quickly but uneventful. My schedule has returned to normal since Jiao has returned home.
I see more of my Coastie. He is pleased for it as am I. I understand his thoughts of her visit. He did not say no aloud but it was clear he was jealous of time spent without him. Do not think he was mean spirited of it. He was very much the opposite. He gave much of his time with no comment. But there are comments that require no words and I saw them clearly. What is one to do in such a situation?
He knows very well I care for him but if one is denied the demonstration of it, it is sensible they may begin to doubt it. It is now time to sooth his sense of neglect so I will spend as much time as is possible to do so.
It is also to make me smile when I see him pouting silently. Thinking someone is jealous of my time with others makes me feel treasured. Now I must be sure to make him feel the only one I am sharing time with. At the least for a while. I do not wish to become a possession so it will be enough to reassure him.
We will walk the beach tomorrow. The reassurance will begin then.

Am I crazy?
I have spent the morning picking more blackberries! Though most were for Mother Bing, I could not resist keeping a few for myself.
I will not finish eating them for some time since I have several pounds in my freezer so I have gathered recipes to use them through the winter. To avoid using them too quickly I have made zucchini bread. It is sweet enough to end cravings and spare the berries.

Blackberries and Pies
I spent the afternoon picking blackberries with Cherry. (<--- that sounds funny!) I have many thorn pricks and scratches. My fingers are purple from berry juice. We picked enough to fill two 5 gallon buckets. I wondered what was to be done with so many berries.
I packaged some for my freezer so I may have them in winter with cereal but Mother Bing arrived shortly after we arrived home. She brought with her several cooking dishes, a very large bag of sugar, flour, and utensils. My surprise at her arrival was soon replaced by a very watery mouth. My kitchen soon smelled of things I had never smelled before but will attempt to recreate as often as possible.
As pies, cakes, and cobblers began to gather, Father Bing arrived with large quantities of ice cream and several nieces and nephews in tow. Even my Coastie arrived in time to enjoy our baking efforts. Though not so much mine since I kept close attention to what was done so I can do it again for myself. I did, however, use the serving spoon with much skill (usually to my own plate).
Now I am fat and my Coastie laughs and smiles at my protests. Of course, he does this now in the barn apartment where I can not hear it. There are 2 pies in the fridge and 3 in the freezer with another cobbler. What is the worst thing, I wish morning to come soon so I may have more!
I am doomed to become a purple balloon!

*sigh*
Jiao has gone home... I had forgotten how quiet my house is.
I had not thought her absence would be so obvious. When she was gone with the neices there was always the thought of her return. Now I know she is not coming at the evening and the house seems more empty. Luey and Nangua still play and make their noise but there seems a quietness about them I did not notice before.
At the least my Coastie will receive more of my attentions. I only hope he has not become accustomed to not having it!
