Jared has been informed to prepare for a move. It does not mean we will leave Japan. It may not require us to change housing. To Jared this means it is probably a change of ships that is in order. If we are not required to change housing it means a ship here in Yokosuka. If it does require our relocation, it means we move to Sasebo. There is a possibility they could billet him in Atsugi but he is not in aviation so it is a slim one.
Chao lei surprises me sometimes with his wit. Yesterday, I was doing laundry and bent to pick up some clothes. Since I already had a bit of an arm load, it was difficult to reach them since I could not bend over all the way so I had to struggle some. At this point Chao lei entered the room and asked if he could assist me. I told him "No. I have it. Thank you." Suddenly he started laughing and said, "It is like watching a T-Rex." He then proceeded to do the T-Rex arms. I think he pays too close attention to his father's teasing.
Chao lei is very attentive to June. Even the smallest of sounds draws him to her. There are times I am too slow to respond to her for his liking. He spends very much time with her reading. She does not know what he reads but gives her attention to him as he does. Chao lei even gets her to smile more than I do in his frequent playing with her. My worries of how he would react to June were definitely unfounded.
It is not always so perfect though. His frustration is evident when June cries while he is occupied doing homework or whatever has his interest at the moment. Still, he does not yell at her but attempts to comfort her. Failing that, he leaves the room and allows me to deal with her.
June has become accustomed to waking when her father wakes. For many, this is no big issue. For me it means I am required to wake at 0430 when Jared wakes. Any movement from him, no matter how quiet, and she wakes. This is odd considering that when she asleep any other time waking her is difficult. I can vacuum, slam doors, listen to music... I believe there could be an explosion outside her window and she would remain asleep. I am grateful in a way when he is gone because it means I can remain asleep until for another hour at the least.
Changes... No changes... We will see what will happen when it happens I suppose. Meantime, I will care for my family and keep them prepared for change.
You handle changes very well, my friend! Chao Lei sounds like a wonderful brother to June, too :)
