The winter is coming. My days change in spite of my wishes.
My work is still happy for me. It is much as a family now. Before it was not so much. I suppose this is true of many new things. Even New Engineer has learned his place and respects mine. No longer are we at odds for the network. It is my job to see to it and he accepts it, though it seems he is unable to resist an occaisional suggestion for improvement.
This morning I was pleased to see the deer return to the pasture. I had missed seeing her for some time. Now she returns with a young one. Fortunately, Cherry has harvested her deer this year. The mother and child are safe for another year.
It is cold and the wind again chills my bones. Peevy seems to not notice as he rattles the gate telling me he wishes to be outside. I must assume his hair and the trees are enough for his warmth. I require four walls, a fireplace, a blanket, and a cup of tea. On my adventures outside I wrap myself in a long thick coat and gloves and even then spend as little time outside as is possible. When the snow begins perhaps I will remain outside for longer times but for the present time the rain soaks my coat so I will remain inside as much as is possible.
My Coastie has not yet returned from his training. I am beginning to lose my approval of this training that keeps him away for so long. A positive thought he is to return soon enough for the station Christmas party. I look forward to it very much. It is formal and provides a good reason to go shopping for a new gown. My Coastie has promised to pamper me. He is to take me for manicures and hair styling. Of course, this is only if he returns with enough time to do so. At any case, his Captain has said I will be brought to the party even though My Coastie is not present if I wish.
Cherry has had a terrible thing happen. A man has shot a cow that belongs to her. The bullet hitting the house caused her much alarm. He says he thought it was a deer. I am not expert at such things as identifying animals but I am capable to tell the difference of a cow and a deer. The man was arrested by the sherriff. Cherry says they will take his gun. I am thinking this is not such a bad thing. If there is difficulty seeing a difference of cows and deer, will he have difficulty seeing the difference of people and deer?
This has convinced me to post signs of no hunting on my fences. I do not wish to hear a bullet hit my house or Peevy.
Thats terrible about the cow!
ReplyDeleteThis constant rain is starting to wear at me. MiniWarrior wants snow. He pleads to the clouds on a daily basis for them to drop him some snow :)
the best thing to do during winter is to cozy up around a fire :) stay warm! and stay safe.
