There is good news for us. We will have a house waiting for us when we arrive. We received a message from the agent our house will be available on our arrival. Housing will have performed its inspection before then. With good fortune, we will arrive and go immediately to it. With even greater fortune, our wait time for our HHG's will be very short.
The advantage is it is closer to the base than our last house, only 15 minutes to drive and close enough to walk to. Also there are other navy families close by. We have seen the outside. It is not so pretty as our last house but I am told the inside balances it. We also have a place to park cars (which is rare in Japan). One of us will have to park outside. I will allow you to guess who. Lol
I believe this second time will be much better. Since I know what to expect, the beginning should not be so tumultuous as the last. I know better how to enter the base gates without attracting too much attention so there should be no reason for gate guards to get angry (on a second thought, I did acquire a very good friend from the last time.) I will also not feel as lost as the last arrival. I know where everything I need is, on and off base. It will be as putting on an old shoe.
Only Chao lei will find the need to adjust. He will have to meet new friends and go to a new school. I am sure he will do well with that. The adjustments that concern me is his father's return to sea duty and the resulting weeks of absence from Chao lei's life. In Pensacola, his father was home daily and most every week end. That will not be so here.
I remember how difficult it was for me when J was gone. But then, I was pregnant. I cannot imagine what Chao lei will think of it. I choose to believe he will do well with only a small struggle at the first. He has already demonstrated an ability to adjust. Still, I wonder of the short and long term effects.
